Osian Retail · Point of sale for Kenyan shops

Live in minutes.
No hardware to buy.

A point of sale for small shops in Kenya. It works without internet, matches every M-Pesa payment to a sale and shows you exactly where your stock went.

Live in minutes

The terminal arrives ready for your kind of shop: products, sizes and barcodes already loaded. Set your PIN, price what you stock and you're selling. No installer, no training course.

No hardware to buy

We supply the tablet, receipt printer and scanner, and we look after them. You prepay for the service per terminal, so there's no big cheque up front and nothing to repair.

From first call to first sale.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your shop

Your shop type, your M-Pesa till or paybill and who works the counter. That's all we need.

  2. 2

    We bring the terminal

Tablet, receipt printer and scanner, set up and loaded with the products shops like yours sell. You never buy or lease hardware.

  3. 3

    Set your PIN and sell

Tick the products you stock, put in your prices and make your first sale. Minutes, not days.

Stop the leaks you can't see.

Cash that never reached the drawer, M-Pesa you can't tie to a sale, stock that walks out the back. Osian Retail makes each one visible.

Sells with no internet

The terminal is the whole system. Sales, stock and reports keep working for days offline and sync when the connection is back.

Every M-Pesa matched

Payments to your Buy Goods till or paybill are matched to the sale they paid for. What doesn't match is listed per shift.

Stock you can trust

Every bottle in, out, broken or counted is recorded. Quick counts with the scanner show the variance by attendant.

Shift cash-up

Each shift closes with expected against counted cash and M-Pesa, so a shortfall has a name and a time on it.

You decide who does what

Staff sign in with a PIN or badge. You choose exactly what each person may do, and every change is in the audit log.

Reports on the counter

Today at a glance, sales by product, attendant and hour, stock value and margin, right on the terminal.

Made for wines & spirits

Knows a tot from a crate.

We started with liquor shops, so the details are already handled. Other kinds of shop get their own setup in the same way.

  • Bottle sizes and crates set up for you, from 250 ml to 1 L
  • Sell by the bottle, the crate or the case and break packs as you go
  • Licensed trading hours: sales outside them are blocked, overrides logged
  • Age check prompt at the start of every shift
  • A starter list of common Kenyan brands with barcodes, ready to price

Questions

What does "no hardware to buy" mean? +

We own the terminal: the tablet, printer and scanner. You pay a small refundable deposit and prepay for the service. If you leave, we collect the kit and refund the deposit.

How do I pay? +

Prepaid per terminal, by M-Pesa, straight from the terminal. No contract. If a payment is late the terminal keeps selling through a grace period before it stops.

What if the internet goes down? +

Nothing changes at the counter. The terminal sells, prints receipts and tracks stock offline, and syncs everything once it's back online.

Can I see the shop when I'm not there? +

Yes. Remote access from your phone and a daily summary are available as add-ons for owners who are often away.

Is it only for wines & spirits? +

Wines & spirits shops are first because that's where we started. The core works for any small shop, and minimarts, agrovets and hardware shops are next.

We're onboarding our first shops across Kenya.

Tell us about your shop and we'll bring the terminal to you.
